This page is divided into two sections, the first dealing with links about St Davids and the second dealing with more general links. Links about equipment will be found on the equipment page.

Section 1: Things of interest in St Davids's:

St Davids Cathedral
St Davids Cathedral

(Do not think we are being inconsistent in the way we write St David(')s. If the name refers to the Cathedral there is no apostrophe; if the name refers to the town then there is!)

The most exciting thing in St David's is the cathedral,  the largest church in Wales and a wonderful building which must be seen.
It has a remarkable musical reputation and is currently (2010) the only cathedral in Wales to be singing a regular Radio3 live evensong.
Details of cathedral service times can be obtained from the link above. Also details of the annual festival of (classical) music, held at the end of May.

A short article at a British Heritage site conveys the atmosphere of this tiny city and lots of general information (including accommodation) can be found at the City web-site.

An enterprising outdoor activities centre, Twr-y-Felin, runs day-courses and has a good shop in the town selling everything a walker is likely to need.

Finally, general information about the area may be found at the The Pembrokeshire National Park Site

Section 2: Sites of general interest:

the magazine Walking Wales is no longer published although old copies may be obtainable from second hand book shops.

However, the newly completed Wales Coast Path has an excellent web site and provides a complete, alternative route from St Davids to Bangor along the coast. Much longer (501k) and nothing like as interesting as the route described on this site but, if you are gluttons for puinishment you could walk from St Davids to Bangor and back again, using both routes. If you succeed in doing this please let me know. See links on the home page.

Long distance footpaths in Britain is a non-commercial site with beautiful maps and lots of links and information.

The middle section of the walk partly coincides withTony Drake's Cambrian Way. The St Davids Walk route is, however, not so unrelentingly demanding. - very much less of a challenge. If you feel that the Cambrian Way website is right for you, then probably only the first part of the St Davids Walk up to Rhandirmwyn will be worth your attention. Drake's website is fascinating and well worth exploring, particularly the excellent links page

See our Equipment page for information about the use of a GPS.

A good site covering Walking in North Wales gives detals of many pleasant routes. Try the Rivers and Relics Walk based on Beddgelert

For Red Kite information, have a look at the splendid photo at the top of the accommodation page and try the link below it to Gigrin farm and the Welsh Kite Trust.

Try Google for masses of information about Strata Florida, visited on Day 11.

Snowdonia is served by innumerable accommodation sites (try any of the search engines)

For the end of the walk try the university based site, for information about Bangor.
